An explanation of BAT taken directly from their site:

Basic Attention Token. It is a utility token based on the Ethereum technology that can also be used as a unit of account between advertisers, publishers, and users in a new, blockchain-based digital advertising and services platform. The token is not a digital currency, security or a commodity…..

Gab said that they like and respect Brave browser as well as the CEO of Brave and BAT, Brendan Eich. Gab later expressed a dislike of BAT. Twitter user @BraveSampson is a developer for BAT and Brave.

Gab originally wanted to fork Chromium after their Dissenter browser extension was kicked off the web store of both Chrome and Firefox.

More recently, Gab tweeted out that they are shipping an iOS build of the Dissenter free speech web browser to Apple for review this weekend.

You can install the browser for Windows here, and Mac here. If the links aren’t working anymore, it’s because Gab took them down because the browser is in beta.
